Derya Husein, RD, MSc

HCPC-Registered Clinical Dietitian — Medical Nutrition, Women's Health & Public Health Education

Derya Husein is an HCPC-registered clinical dietitian whose work combines medical nutrition, women's health and public health education. She holds an MSc in Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics from Robert Gordon University in Scotland and has gained clinical experience in hospital settings in Glasgow, including Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, working with patients across gastroenterology, endocrinology, oncology and complex medical care.

Her current clinical interests include women's health, endometriosis, PCOS, gut health and the microbiome, metabolic and endocrine disorders, diabetes and nutritional support before and after surgery. Her wider hospital experience also includes enteral and parenteral nutrition and working with patients whose care requires input from several medical specialties.

Derya is the founder of DietitianMED, a platform combining clinical practice with nutrition education for patients and healthcare professionals. Her professional development includes training through organisations such as ESPEN, EASO and the British Dietetic Association, and she is involved with the evidence-based nutrition platform PEN.

A recurring theme in her work is the relationship between dietary fibre, food diversity and the gut microbiome, while keeping recommendations practical and grounded in clinical evidence rather than restrictive food rules. She has also spoken publicly about nutrition in reproductive health and preparation for pregnancy.

She became known to a wider Bulgarian audience as the clinical dietitian in the first Bulgarian season of “The Biggest Loser” (“Живот на кантар”), where nutrition formed part of a multidisciplinary approach to metabolic health and obesity.

At the Summit, Derya will explore what current evidence can — and cannot — tell us about diet, the microbiome and inflammation in: “Gut Health, Inflammation and Endometriosis: The Role of Nutrition in Symptom Management.”
